At the beginning of every month we take a look at which events HSR members will be attending in the coming month.
For Hartman Smith Racing, March marks the beginning of the 2019 race season. It starts with John "Bodie" Smith returning to the wheel of, his father, Paul Smith's Entertainer Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car on March 9th for the Menard's Chevy Show and Night of Fire at the South Carolina Motorplex in Orangeburg, SC. The following weekend, the Smith family is headed down to Gainesville, FL for the 50th Annual NHRA Gatornationals from March 14-17. John will be turning the knobs with, father, Paul and, brother, Mike on the Paul Richards' Racing Nitro Funny Car driven by Dave Richards. The 50th Gatornationals will be a special one with many legends of the sport making appearances throughout the race weekend. A Legend in his own right, Florida native, Paul Smith will be showcasing his Entertainer Funny Car on display at the event. Then, the following Tuesday and Wednesday, Megan Smith will be attending Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School to obtain her NHRA Super Comp Dragster License at Gainesville Raceway. Megan is excited for this next step in her racing career, and she will be starting a new video project that will take viewers along for the ride as she works towards becoming a Nitro pilot.
